Members of the Party shall:
a) Be of age as per the Party Rule Book
b) Support the Statement of Principles,
c) Not be a member of any other political party or similar organisation,
d) Not belong to or have previously belonged to or been associated with an organisation whose purpose is incompatible with the Party, these being listed in the Party Rule Book.
Persons shall be at least 16 years old to be eligible for membership of the Party.
Members must be subjects/residents of The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland or citizens of Eire or other persons legally resident in The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
UK citizens living abroad are eligible to be members. In terms of participation in candidate selection and other matters, overseas members may, if they wish, nominate one UK parliamentary constituency of their choice as the Party unit in which they can participate in candidate selection.
All members shall accept the Statement of Principles of the Party and be bound by its Constitution and Rule Book.
All new membership applications must be received and processed by the Party Secretary.
All Membership applications must be made using either the Party’s official online membership portal or a current official Party membership form.
All new membership applications are subject to Chapter 2 of the Constitution.
Proscribed List
Membership is not available to anyone who is or has previously been a member of the British National Party, the National Front, the UK First party, the English Defence League, the British Freedom Party, British People’s Party, the Britain First Party, National Action, Scottish Dawn, the National Liberal Party, the British Democratic Party, Homeland Party, Patriotic Alternative, the National Rebirth Party and Generation Identity. The SDP reserves the right to add other parties or organisations to this proscribed list.
Any applications made from people who are or have been members of these organisations will be refused, and any subscriptions collected will be refunded. By making an application for membership, the applicant certifies that he is not and has never been a member of any of these parties.
